Peljesac, Croatia is a region very well-known for its grapes and the wine they produce. Located on the West coast of the peninsula, Peljesac is home to the Plavac Mali grape in the Dingac region, a small yet beautiful scene for people to live and visit. Facing nothing but sun and water, the grapes inhabit an environment right on the edge of a mountainside that very few other places get to call home. Along with that, the quality of the grapes is like no other with an exquisite taste. Rocky soil, salty air, and steep terrain are only a few of the characteristics that make Dingac the attraction it is. While accessing and picking the grapes in the vineyards is very difficult, it takes you back in time. Back to the time where you use donkeys and your feet to scale the steep mountains.

What lead our family here? The wine, the people, and the views. Growing up with half of our family still living in Croatia made it worthwhile to travel overseas at least once a year. Each time, we fell more in love with the homeland. So, when we came across the opportunity to grow grapes and produce wine in the country our family came from, it was something we couldn’t pass up. At Brkic Estates, we find value in family. Therefore, each member plays a vital role in the production.

At Brkic Estates, we make a Dingac and a Plavac Mali wine. Despite the different names, both use the same grape. Dingac holds a dryer taste with a higher alcohol percentage, designating itself as a premium wine, whereas Plavac Mali falls right below it with a taste that highlights the unique flavor of the grape. While you may like one more than the other, we don’t think you can go wrong with either. Both are red wines from a beautiful country with great people!

Enjoy the wine, let us know your thoughts, and make sure you stop by when visiting Croatia!
